Moon Star
Just as the match between Turkey and Spain for 2010 FIFA World Cup was starting on Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Madrid, the first match of the team Moon Star against Spartans was ending in Albany, New York.
Composed of predominantly Turkish players, Moon Star is a football (soccer) team sponsored by Turkish Student Association for the Spring 2009 intramurals at UAlbany. The name Moon Star is the literal translation of “Ay Yıldız” from Turkish that is used as a label for Turkish flag in reference to the crescent and the star on the flag. The team brings together Turkish students and their friends in an attempt to create friendship, sportsmanship, and an outlet for physical exercise.
Turkish Student Association wishes good luck and success to the newly organized team in the tournament that will go through the end of the semester.
